Title: Smart Sensing: Shaping the Future of Environmental Monitoring

Abstract: Advancements in technology have rapidly expanded possibilities, with sensors becoming more powerful, lightweight, and cost-effective. At the same time, data-processing algorithms are evolving, requiring intelligent adaptation for specific applications. This keynote presentation highlights some of the case studies conducted at the Laboratory for Imaging of the Mining Environment (LIME) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia using smart sensing technologies and data analytics. Example case studies are drawn from both surface and underground operations and includes monitoring for land, water, vegetation, and air.
